Buyers of Veneer and Saw Timber
We are a family-owned and operated business with a rich history in the logging industry.

FAMILY BUILT AND RUN SINCE 1940.
Our story begins with Edward Kolb, whose hard work and determination laid the foundation for what would become Ed Kolb Logging. Ed got his start in the timber industry working with pulpwood and later expanded his efforts by acquiring a logging business and equipment from his friend, Lawrence Collier. While holding a full-time position at the Brookville paper mill, Ed devoted his evenings and weekends to logging—often working long hours and running on just a few hours of sleep. His unwavering dedication and passion for the craft are what sparked a family legacy that continues to thrive over 60 years later.
In the early 1960s, Edward expanded the scope of the business by hauling logs for Wood Mosaic, which was then the largest veneer company in the United States. His reputation for reliability and quality work quickly grew, opening new doors and opportunities. One of the proudest moments in our family’s history came when some of the logs Ed transported were used in the construction of a new addition to the White House.
As the business grew, Edward’s sons began helping out as teenagers, learning the trade and contributing to the family legacy. In 1994, Randy Kolb stepped into the role of sole proprietor, carrying the torch into a new generation. For nearly three decades, Randy has managed every facet of Ed Kolb Logging—from purchasing, and logging to customer relations. His commitment to quality and personal service has helped the business build strong, lasting relationships with a loyal customer base, many of whom have worked with us across multiple generations.

These White Oak logs come from right here in our home county of Franklin County, Indiana. They hold special meaning for our family, as Ed first came across these very trees as a teenager. Having stood tall for decades, they represent both the strength of the land and the history of our community. When a local landowner approached us about harvesting some of them, we took great care in selecting only the appropriate trees—preserving the natural beauty and significance of the area while continuing our commitment to responsible logging practices.
Preservation and sustainability have always been at the heart of our operations. Selective cutting techniques are employed to preserve the timber left behind, ensuring the long-term health of the forests we work in. Additionally, we strictly adhere to Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce our environmental impact. Thank you for choosing Edward Kolb Logging. We look forward to serving you and building a sustainable future for our forests and the logging industry as a whole.
